Leaf Scar
Every road, every dream has a new beginning
Between two and just before sunset at around five
My favorite time of a cloud-uncovered day
Calmness is within the trees surrounding my vision
Sun's rays pass through the tiny gaps of the leaves abound
Turning the color of the leaves to chartreuse
I hear the whispers of the wind
Uttered by the faint chatters of the dainty leaves
Foliage talks and my spirit is disturbed
From its long quiescent ennui
This dullness and languor of my spirit
Relieved by the silence in my ears
Deafened by the voices of the trees in full leaf
I feel beneath me the gracefulness of the grass
Beauty as the wind grazed through its profuseness
The lush scent of the air I’m breathing
From flaunting forth the daffodils dance
My inspiration… my motivation
From nurturing nectars the red admiral sips
The beebread of my endeavor
As I trod along the pathway of my life
There were rocks, mud, and cobblestones
Yet for worrisome I was inclined to not
For my isolation was guided by the sunlight
That dried the soft earth and crumpled the rocks
A fanciful footpath adorned by shrubs, flowers and trees
Most pleasing to my senses at this time of day
Time’s after five and the sky has turned vermilion
Like a leaf scar it left me when the day has fallen
A pigment only to fade when I am dreaming
Tomorrow’s another day and the light will sprout
The time between two and five will come to pass again
The time to turn over a new leaf…
